The eye lands on the glow first. Two burning eyes and a jagged grin push up through a broken plank surface, and everything else on the porch quietly steps back.

Design Story

The composition is built on a simple trick: a weathered wood plane, split open at the centre, with orange firelight rising from beneath. Charred boards fan outward toward the edges in irregular fragments, framing the face without boxing it in. Smoke drifts in soft grey ribbons across the dark middle ground, and small bat silhouettes sit near the upper corners like punctuation. The contrast does the storytelling — cool brown timber against molten amber, hard cracked lines against diffuse glow. It reads as depth rather than decoration, an illusion of something lit and waiting below the surface.

Entryway & Styling

On a doormat, that illusion has room to work. The rectangular footprint gives the face a wide, symmetrical stage, and the artwork runs edge to edge so the broken planks meet the border instead of floating inside it. Viewed from standing height, the motif scale reads clearly at entry distance — a single statement piece at the threshold rather than a small detail underfoot. It sits naturally in seasonal porch styling, beside pumpkins, lanterns and autumn planters.
